A WalkMe alternative without the flow-building
WalkMe is one of the original digital adoption platforms and is now part of SAP. Teams build walkthroughs in its editor and attach them to elements of the apps they support, often internal tools such as SAP, Salesforce or Workday.
At a glance
| Aspect | Wayhint | WalkMe |
|---|---|---|
| Type of tool | AI guide that reads the live page | Enterprise digital adoption platform |
| Pricing (published or reported) | Public: Free, $149/mo, $499/mo, Business from $15k/yr (early access: billing not open yet) | Quote only. Reported median contract about $39k per year (Vendr) |
| Free plan | Yes, up to 500 monthly active users | No |
| How guidance is created | None. Pepper reads the live page on every step and learns the app from observe mode and the explorer | Walkthroughs are built step by step in a visual editor |
| When the UI changes | Reads the live page each step, so there are no flows to re-record. It can still pick a wrong element, which we measure | Walkthroughs are tied to page elements, so a changed screen can mean updating the affected steps |
| Ownership | Independent | Part of SAP since 2024 |

Which one fits
What WalkMe does well
- Large rollouts of internal software across thousands of employees
- Governance features for central adoption teams
- Coverage beyond the browser, including desktop apps
Choose WalkMe if
- You are rolling out SAP or other enterprise software to a large workforce and want a dedicated adoption team to own it.
- You need guidance inside desktop applications, not only web pages.
Choose Wayhint if
- You don’t have a team to write and maintain flows, and don’t want one.
- Your UI ships often and guidance should keep up without re-recording.
- Your users arrive with a specific task in mind, in their own words.
- You want to start free and see prices before talking to anyone.
- You want the option to run the guide in your own infrastructure (planned for Business).
Be aware
Wayhint is new. It works in web pages only, has no surveys or NPS, and goal analytics are still being built. It guides; it doesn’t replace a full adoption suite.
The main difference: who writes the guidance
With WalkMe, guidance is typically built in advance: someone decides which journeys deserve it, then builds them. That gives you control over wording and order, and it takes time on each journey and when screens change.
With Wayhint, nobody has to write the journey. The user says what they want, and Pepper decides one step at a time from the live page, using an app map learned from observe mode and an explorer run. You can still add short notes and flows, but nothing depends on them.

Questions about switching from WalkMe
Can I switch from WalkMe to Wayhint?
Yes. Add the Wayhint script tag next to WalkMe, try Pepper on the pages where people get stuck, then remove the old tags when you are ready. Wayhint doesn't need authored flows, so there is nothing to migrate first.
Is Wayhint cheaper than WalkMe?
Wayhint publishes its prices: free up to 500 monthly active users, $149 and $499 per month, and Business from $15k per year (early access: billing isn't open yet). WalkMe, as of October 2026: quote only. Reported median contract about $39k per year (Vendr). Check the vendor for current pricing.
What does Wayhint not do yet?
Wayhint is new. It guides in web pages only (no desktop apps), has no surveys or NPS, and goal analytics are still being built. If you need those today, a mature platform may fit better.
